County Durham entrepreneur scoops awards

COUNTY Durham craft entrepreneur Sara Davies has scooped her second national award in month for growing the business she started while still at university.
The 25-year-old has added the Santander Small to Medium Business of the Year Award at the prestigious Orange National Business Awards to a list of accolades. She is growing her Coundon-based business, Crafter’s Companion, with rising sales of her paper-crafting products. The prize comes just three weeks after she won the Ernst & Young UK Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year award.
The Port of Blyth in Northumberland was the winner of the Health, Work and Wellbeing for Small Business Award Winner at the ceremony in London. And Ken McMeikan, chief executive of Newcastle bakery Greggs, made the finals of the Orange Leader of the Year Award, but was pipped to the prize by Dyson chief Martin McCourt.
