Telecoms firm Daisy Group branching into the Midlands

TELECOMS firm Daisy Group is branching out into the Midlands after acquiring the former 3G mobile site in Aston.

The Lancashire-based firm said it saw the region as a key area of growth, and adds a Birmingham office to its network of offices across the country. Daisy has embarked on a string of acquisitions this year, including two companies from the North East.

It acquired Prudhoe telecoms company BNS for £10.5m at the end of March, and followed that up by snapping up more than two-thirds of entrepreneur Ian Gillespie’s Cramlington-based company Fone Logistics for £3.7m in April.

Fone Logistics was subsequently combined with the mobile distribution division which is primarily managed from Ipswich. The Cramlington office was closed, and the staff moved to the former BNS offices in Prudhoe.

Daisy now has offices in Birmingham, Northumberland, Lancashire, Manchester, Ipswich, Southampton and London.

Sales director Karen Ullah said: “This is strong base and we have been continually impressed by the quality and enthusiasm of the people here.

“They have showed great zeal for being involved in the wider group and we really do believe the Birmingham site is a key part of the Daisy growth story.”

Daisy revealed interim revenues of £120m for the six months to the end of September this year, nearly four times the £30.9m it had accumulated in the nine months to the end of September last year. However, it had said revenues were at the low end of expectations due to lower-than-expected revenues from last year’s acquisition AT Communications.
