Teesside lawyers advise drivers to go local

TEESIDE lawyers are advising drivers that, in the event of a traffic accident in the snow and ice, they should turn to a local lawyer.
John Hall, Head of Personal Injury with TBI Solicitors, who have offices in Stockton, Wynyard Park, Hartlepool and Barnard Castle, commented: “Earlier this week, the AA reported a 93% increase in insurance claims compared to the same period last year. Statistically you’re more likely to be involved in an accident in this weather. If you are, ensure your claim is looked after with your best interests in mind, not the interests of your insurance company.
“Before telephoning your insurance company and finding yourself speaking with their chosen legal representative, you should walk into the office of your local lawyer, discuss all your concerns and get guidance on what you’re entitled to.”
A claimant’s insurance company will often recommend a firm in their ‘panel’. However that firm is often located miles away and will be expected to pay the insurance company a referral fee for the work.
Following an accident you might have a number of concerns, does your insurance cover a hire car, how do you get your car repaired and will your insurance excess be affected? Additionally, if you or a passenger is injured in the accident, there will be further concerns,: will the injured person lose earnings if off work, are they entitled to compensation and will physiotherapy or other treatment be covered?
