Business & Enterprise Group goes national

THE Business & Enterprise Group based in the North-east has given itself a national profile with a major acquisition.

It has bought Business-to- Business, a UK-wide company with a track record in business improvement – specialising in event management, international trade, supply chain management and procurement.

It is a major addition to the group’s portfolio with offices in London, Newcastle and Coventry and a client list that includes such big names as as Npower, Sainsbury, Gatwick and Heathrow Airports, the MOD, UKTI and Department of Education.

With its HQ in London and a team of 36 people across its offices, BtoB will retain its own identity, well-established products and brands but will be a wholly owned subsidiary of the Business & Enterprise Group.

From today the new name of the Business & Enterprise Group (previously known as Business & Enterprise North East – and Business & Enterprise UK) will reflect its growing presence on the national business development stage.

This is the latest in a string of announcements from a contract win to deliver the Leadership and Management Advisory Service in the North-west, to the acquisition of NDI UK, which started trading as part of the group last week.

Alastair MacColl

Chief executive of the Business & Enterprise Group, Alastair MacColl, said: “This is a fantastic company for us to acquire.

“It will help us to meet our ambition to be a national company delivering business development and enterprise initiatives across the country from our base here in the North-east.

“Our name change represents our evolution and growth from a business to a group of businesses operating under our umbrella brand.

“We have worked with Business-to-Business Exhibitions (BtoB) for some time as a customer and as a partner.

“It became apparent that we had similar values and complementary skills, experience and ambitions and that BtoB would be a clear strategic fit with our business model.

“This acquisition provides us with access to valuable new markets and customers while reinforcing our ability to provide capacity to operate at a national level and deliver at a local level.

“We now have established a national footprint and can export our knowledge and skills to other parts of the country, helping even more businesses to start, succeed and grow.

“Our focus on helping North-east businesses remains more important than ever to everything we do.”
