Global centre for Wynyard Business Park

CHEMICAL giant Huntsman today unveiled plans to create a new £2m global business centre at Wynyard Business Park. The move secures the future for the jobs of the 300 staff who will be relocating from its existing premises at Wilton and Haverton Hill, Billingham.

The Pigments Division of Huntsman is taking a 54,000 sq ft high-quality building that will include modern purpose-built offices, as well as creating an additional 31,000 sq ft of laboratory space.

Huntsman Pigments president, Simon Turner said: “This is a very exciting time for us and marks a key milestone as we have been transforming our business for the last two years.

“This re-location demonstrates our continued commitment to the North East where we have operated for many years.

“Wynyard Business Park provides the level of services we need, combined with efficient, modern, purpose-built facilities right on our doorstep.”

Huntsman employs over 600 people on Teesside with the 200 staff at its Pigments division at Greatham, Hartlepool unaffected by the move.

The 100 staff at its polyurethane division at Wilton will also be unaffected by the announcement.

The Wynyard offices will provide business services for Huntsman’s pigments division which is a US$1.5bn global business with manufacturing sites in seven countries on four continents.

The announcement has been hailed as a massive boost for 700-acre Wynyard Park, near Stockton, and a huge vote of confidence in the Tees Valley and the North East.
