Vertu Motors Group inject £2m into Darlington centre

VERTU Motors Group has injected £2m into a new assessment and preparation centre in Darlington.

The site for its used vehicle operation is also the UK headquarters for Vertu Vehicle Solutions.

It directly employs 19 people, with five more jobs created as a result of sub-contracted work.

The former Volvo trucks site was acquired by Vertu Motors and has undergone significant refurbishment.

The centre houses a mechanical workshop, re-spraying depot and onsite bodyshop, which has the capacity to service more than 300 cars per month

In addition to the vehicle refurbishment facility, Vertu Motors has added another training centre for its employees. Three centres already operate across the country, training staff in all areas of the Vertu Motors business.

A facility is attached to the building in Darlington which enables employees to enhance their skills and professional development.

Centre manager Alan Riddell said: “We want to assure our customers that their vehicle has been tested to the highest possible standard.

“This centre enables us to further enhance our reputation for delivering extremely vigorous inspections of used vehicles. Acting as a quality hub for thousands of vehicles every year, the centre demonstrates Vertu Motors’ commitment to providing the highest quality used cars on the market.”

Robert Forrester, chief executive of Vertu Motor Group, added: “Vertu Motors is showing its faith in the North-east by basing its centre in Darlington.

“With its excellent transport links and experienced skill base, Darlington is the ideal location for the preparation centre.

“It is an essential part of our network servicing dealerships from Dunfermline in the North to Exeter in the South.

“Locating the operation in Darlington further demonstrates our confidence in the town.

“Alongside our existing Nissan, Renault and SEAT dealerships in Darlington, the new centre further establishes our business as a key employer in the area and a strong advocate of the benefits of investing in the town.”
