Grainger bosses among most influential

Andrew Cunningham

THE boss of Newcastle-based Grainger has been voted the third most influential person in the UK’s residential property sector.

The group’s chief executive Andrew Cunningham was pipped in the RESI 100 survey by Tony Pidgley, boss of London property developer Berkeley, in first place, and second placed Tom Bloxham, chairman of Urban Splash, which redevelops Victorian industrial buildings into residential apartments.

Cunningham was joined in the list, which is based on votes from industry peers and published in trade magazine Property Week, by Grainger executive property director Nick Jopling in 37th place. Jopling just joined Grainger a year ago.

Cunningham said: “It is a great honour to be voted for by so many of my peers in the industry.

“I am very pleased that my colleague Nick Jopling was also recognised by the poll.

“We will continue to work hard to ensure that Grainger maintains and builds on its market leading position in the residential property sector.”

Grainger holds around £2.4 billion of directly owned properties and £3.1 billion of assets under management, in the UK and Germany.

The company marks its centenary year in 2012.
