Plight of film industry's funding in spotlight at Teesside University

PANELISTS from organisations such as Film4 and the British Film Institute are to take part in a discussion on how film-makers will be affected by major changes in funding for the industry.

The BFI’s Chris Collins, Film4’s Lila Rawlings, Keith Griffiths of Illuminations Films and BAFTA-nominated independent film producer Samm Haillay will be appearing at the Baltic Centre of Contemporary Art tomorrow as part of a series taking place in the North East and Yorkshire.

The event will be hosted by Teesside University, and will cover how independent film-makers will be affected by changes such as the replacement of the UK Film Council by the BFI.

The event is Caroline Norbury’s first major public bow since she was appointed to the role of Creative England CEO, and the discussion will also cover how the organisation can assist the regional film sector.

Creative media businesses in the region will also be able to see how Teesside University’s School of Arts and Media can provide support services to allow them to network and expand.

The event runs from 6-9pm, and is free to attend.
