Stadium Group strengthens its team

ELECTRONICS manufacturer Stadium Group has made a number of key appointments as it gears up for growth in several new and emerging markets.

The Hartlepool firm has doubled the size of its commercial team with the addition of three new sales personnel who will be responsible for driving new business across the UK, Europe and Asia.

Lindsay Driscoll joins Stadium as strategic business development director and is charged with growing sales in Western Europe in areas such as smart grid and metering.

Steve Henderson has been recruited as business development manager in a role which focuses on developing the UK market.

Meanwhile, Sinney Leung, the group’s new sales director for Asia, will drive sales and brand awareness in the emerging Asian markets.

Stadium has also appointed Ian Davies as business unit director for the firm’s facility in Rugby, Warwickshire.

CEO Stephen Phipson, who himself is a relatively new member of Stadium’s team, said: “As we focus on continued organic growth, the sales team appointments will drive new business in both our existing target markets and in emerging sectors such as green energy, renewables and smart metering.”

Last September Phipson replaced Nigel Rogers, who stepped down in April after 10 years at the helm of the firm.

Stadium, which celebrates its centenary this year, recorded a turnover of £44.8m in 2010 with an operating profit of £3.34m.

The company, which employs 1200 staff at sites in Hartlepool, Rugby, Diss and China, provides electronic assembly and product manufacture services for clients in a range of sectors including controls for stairlifts, smart water meters and LED lighting and signage products.
