MEDICAL testing kit maker Immunodiagnostic Systems (IDS) has appointed a new finance director.

Gerard Murray will take on the role from April 1, following the already announced departure of Paul Hailes from the post on March 31.

Hailes will remain with the Boldon-based company’s North American operations.

Murray joins IDS from his current post as group finance director for the Vardy Group of Companies. He has also worked as finance director for Reg Vardy plc and Northgate.

IDS chief executive Ian Cookson said: “We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Gerard Murray.

“Gerard has a very strong and impressive history in the quoted company arena, and his experience will be incredibly useful to IDS going forward.
