Director moves to join medical team at IDS

A FINANCIAL director with a strong track record working for North East companies is moving across to medical testing kit maker Immunodiagnostic Systems (IDS).

Gerard Murray will take up the role from April 1 at the fast growing Boldon-based firm, which is best known for its vitamin D testing kits and flagship IDS-iSYS machines.

He will replace Paul Hailes, who is stepping down from the post on March 31, but is staying with IDS to work mainly with the company’s North American operations.

Murray is currently the finance director at the Durham-based Vardy Group of Companies and also held the same post with Darlington van hire business Northgate.

He spent a decade as the finance director at motor dealers Reg Vardy plc before becoming the company’s chief executive and then moved over to Northgate. He went back five years later.

IDS chief executive Ian Cookson said: “We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Gerard Murray.

“Gerard has a very strong and impressive history in the quoted company arena and his experience will be incredibly useful to IDS.

“We very much welcome him to the team and look forward to working alongside him in the future."

IDS reported a 21% rise in revenues to £27.3m for the six months to the end of September with a 17% increase in profits, which reached £7.7m.
