Boost for TTE Technical Training Group

The TTE Technical Training Group has completed a refurbishment of its South Bank facilities, creating a new multi-purpose training facility within its Edison House centre on Teesside.

Named The Dorman Long Building by TTE learners, the refurbished building features industry-standard training equipment to support the skills development of young people in the UK and international technicians.

Dorman Long is synonymous with North-east industry and TTE’s facility was originally Dorman Long’s training centre.

The building will be utilised for the training of school and college students aged 14-19 from Teesside to provide an introduction to engineering as well as young people on apprenticeship training programmes. In addition, skilled technicians from the UK and overseas will use the facilities to work towards respected industry-relevant qualifications.

The centre will also be the new home for TTE’s Business Development Team and its Training Assessment Team.

The new building takes its place alongside TTE’s existing facilities on the site including Edison House, which features a workshop, offices and classrooms.

Steve Grant, Managing Director of The TTE Technical Training Group, said: “The centre really enhances the training provision at TTE for local young people and technicians from industry. Its facilities and equipment can be applied to a cross-section of training programmes ranging from giving school pupils an introduction to engineering through to complex upskilling programmes.”
