Conservatek up for award for Cargo Fleet Offices work

A TEESSIDE construction firm is up for a top national industry award due to its outstanding site standards during the restoration of the iconic Cargo Fleet Offices.

Conservatek has been shortlisted for the 2012 Considerate Constructors Scheme National Site Awards, which recognises exceptional standards of consideration towards local neighbourhoods and public, the workforce and the environment.

The awards are only given to the highest scoring 7.5% of sites, which have been assessed nationwide and completed within 2011.

The firm, which worked under the direction of regeneration specialists and commercial property developers Python Properties, turned the derelict building, inset, that has stood empty for more than eight years into business premises.

Shaun Cooper, Conservatek director, said: “It is fantastic to be acknowledged for our commitment and exceptional standards of work.”

The three-storey Edwardian building was originally built by Cargo Fleet Iron Company in 1916 and was formerly the headquarters of British Steel Teesside and then Redcar and Cleveland Council.
