WE often work at our best when we work as a team - listening, learning and using each individual’s particular strengths to meet the needs of the whole group.
And the value of teams working in companies to introduce or develop new ideas will be recognised this year in awards organised by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and backed by The Journal.
The HR & D Team of the Year is a new award that recognises the impact a team has had on the organisation.
The judges will be looking at work which may involve new initiatives as well as recognising the professional approach the team have taken to move the organisation forward.
The team will be able to demonstrate how it has created either a new culture or ensured a business has survived in difficult situations.
This is just one of the eight categories at the North East Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development HR&D awards which celebrate those people who have gone that extra mile in recruitment and training.
Companies and organisations from across the region will compete to win one of the titles at the awards which culminate in a ceremony at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead on Thursday, May 3. And this year the awards are in association with Nigel Wright Recruitment.
The event organisers expect the gala event to be better than ever this time and attract more than 350 people to cheer on the winners. They are already taking bookings for tables.
CIPD chairwoman Catherine Attwell said: “With all the problems companies have faced, it will be nice to celebrate the success the HR function has achieved in supporting the business aims in such difficult conditions.”
Past winners of the awards include John Lewis, Nexus, Northumbria Police, North Tyneside Council and South Tyneside Homes.
Attwell said: “I hope you will come and help us celebrate all that is good about HR in the North East. Better still, why not enter your organisation for one of the awards.
“Winning such an award has helped other companies retain and attract good-quality staff.”
Details of how to enter will be available each Thursday in The Journal until March 19, the closing date for entries.
To enter, log on to www.journallive.co.uk/cipdawards or contact Lesley Hampson, events manager on 0191 201 6435 or email lesley.hampson@trinitymirror.com
