A WOOD-BURNING boiler firm is looking to a bright future after winning a £150,000 investment and a boost from new Government subsidies.

The Wood Heating Company (Biomass) Ltd will use the cash from venture capitalist Northstar to recruit more staff to help cope with a growth in sales brought about by the forthcoming extension of the Government’s Renewable Heat Incentive to domestic properties.

Cramlington-based TWHC (Biomass) was launched in 2010 to separate the company’s biomass boiler activities from its existing wood-burning stove operation, and it is now a leading supplier of biomass boilers, which burn pellets, woodchip and logs, across the North East and Scotland.

The company, which has been supplying biomass boilers for more than 20 years, has broadened its customer base to take in small town houses and large country estates.

Managing director Mike Blakeley said: “To date, it would be fair to say that the main customer base for biomass boilers has been committed environmentalists.

“But we believe that now the Renewable Heat Incentives cheme is in place, more and more people are going to realise the benefits of purchasing a biomass boiler.”
