A NORTHUMBERLAND wood supplier has logged on to the latest in luxury lodges after confirming its status as the UK distributor for Ikihirsi log houses from Finland.
Jackson’s of Hexham, which traditionally sells garden furniture and wood-related products, first discovered the Scandinavian chalets four years ago when owner Michael Jackson saw one appear at Vallum Farm, close to Matfen in Northumberland.
Jackson did his homework and spoke directly to the Finnish company that distributed the log houses.
Shortly after, the firm received interest from local farmer Billy Findler, who wanted to transform a wet field on his farm at West Woodburn into a lakeside retreat for visitors.
Findler dug out and built a lake which he has now filled with trout and under the lake he has laid pipes which are used for the heating source to the lodges.
It took Jackson’s a year to build three luxury, self-catering holiday lodges for Mr Findler and now Redewater Lakeside Lodges is reaping the benefits.
Jackson said: “Billy’s had one or two lets already and he only officially opened the lodges a week past Saturday.
