AMANDA Maskery, a partner in Newcastle law firm Sintons' healthcare group, has been elected vice-chairwoman of the Association of Specialist Providers to Dentists (ASPD), a leading network of professionals advising dentists on commercial and regulatory matters.
Over the last three years Maskery has acted in more than 100 transactions in the dental sector throughout the UK and is the first woman to be elected to this position.
She said: “ASPD’s member firms are widely consulted and regarded as trusted advisers by many of the 11,000 dentists in the UK and have the expertise to deal with the increasing complexity in the dental sector such as primary care trust negotiation, Care Quality Commission registration, the proposed new NHS contract, and the opportunities created by the sale and acquisition of dental practices.
“The healthcare sector is in the midst of regulatory upheaval and primary healthcare providers such as dentists need to know that their advisers have a strong understanding of the challenges they are facing.”
Steve Pratt, senior healthcare banking consultant at Lloyds TSB Commercial in the South West, and chairman of ASPD said: “I’m delighted that Amanda has been elected as vice-chair, as she will bring her energetic and forward-thinking approach to ASPD to help it grow further.”
