THE boss of a fast-growing pharmaceutical firm is modest about her win in the North East’s only awards dedicated to women in business.
Dianne Sharp, managing director of Prudhoe-based SCM Pharma, was named Best Woman in International Business in the WIN Awards last year after leading her company’s growth in overseas markets.
She said: Naturally, I was delighted to win the award, especially looking at the calibre of women I was shortlisted against as a finalist.
“The award however was not really about me but the exceptional team I have at SCM Pharma. In reality, the award was a reflection on everyone in the business and was testament to their commitment and hard work in taking the company from the local market into several global markets. The award win helped add another layer of credibility to our reputation.”
The awards, organised by the WIN networking group for the last 13 years, aim to recognise the best women in business and inspire others to follow their success.
Lisa Holmes, international trade adviser for UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), which is sponsoring this year’s Best Woman in International Business Award: said: “We’ve set ourselves an ambitious target to help create 500 new exporters in the region by 2015. We hope that awards such as these will help inspire others to take up the export challenge."
