CONTACT centre and fulfilment specialist Spark Response is creating 170 temporary jobs as it gears up for its busiest time of the year.
The Gateshead business, which distributes products for clients include Toys R Us, Soap and Glory, FitFlop, Micro Scooters and Well Mount, has started recruiting the temporary workers it needs for Christmas with the view to some becoming permanent.
Spark’s HR manager Edward Duffy said: “Many of our clients experience significant increases in sales in the run- up to Christmas which means the demand on resources increases as well.
“We have to ensure we’re in a position to meet that surge in demand hence the recruitment process we’re undertaking in the coming weeks.
“While the new positions we’re looking to fill are initially temporary, we are a growing company and are always looking to strengthen our team so applicants should see this as the ideal opportunity to impress. If they do that and we see real potential in them, it could lead to something more permanent.”
The recruitment process will take Spark’s total workforce over the 300 mark.
The company also runs its own retail businesses via sister company Spark Etail, which included the Ethical Superstore and Natural Collection.
Based in Follingsby Park, Spark Response was set up in 1982 as a direct mail specialist.
