PwC in Newcastle has taken on an office record of 27 graduates this month.

The Tyneside new starters are among 1,200 graduates joining the group nationwide, including more than 140 at PwC offices in the North.

In addition, 18 school-leavers have joined the firm’s Northern offices on its Higher Apprenticeship and school and college Leaver programmes.

Paul Woolston, senior partner in PwC’s Newcastle office, said: “PwC believes in fostering and retaining the region’s graduates along with supporting the local community.

“This will help to strengthen our practice and local expertise which in turn benefits our clients. As a firm our strategy during the downturn was about holding our nerve and investing in business.

“Our new graduates are a welcome addition to a committed team here in Newcastle. I’m delighted to welcome them to our Newcastle office and wish them all the best.”

The new intake will work on tax, assurance, consulting, actuarial, consulting and advisory practices.
