ONLINE and mobile specialists Shout Digital have created a new personalised training site and mobile app for the Great North Run.
Newcastle-based Shout has helped devise Great Run Training, an online and mobile training service which allows runners of all abilities, from complete beginner to seasoned professional, to devise their own bespoke training and motivational programmes.
The digital team from Shout worked alongside the team of specialists at Bupa Great Run to devise a free and fully interactive training service.
It features a personal training diary, weekly progress checks, GPS mapping and tracking of runs and motivational and visual representations of progress and improvements.
Shout digital director Andy Brown said: “Crucial to Great Run Training is its simplicity for users. We took on board lots of feedback from runners who were just starting out, as well as top level professionals, to ask what they would want from a training aid.
“We’re pleased the finished product has been well received by beginners and former Olympians alike.”
Special projects manager at Bupa Great Run is elite athlete, Andy Graffin, who represented Great Britain at World Championship and Olympic level. He said: “We’re really thrilled Shout Digital has been able to match the technical requirements to what we, as running fans, would really want to see in a training aid.
“What is more impressive is the way they have been able to create elements we didn’t think possible.”
