THE grass is certainly greener for one entrepreneur who reckons he has come up with a unique – if unusual – way of lifting the moods of stressed office workers.

James Armstrong, of Cramlington-based 365 Artificial Grass, has created an indoor artificial lawn mat for use in offices.
The specially-designed mats fit under desks and include a freshly mown grass scent.
Armstrong said the inspiration for the product came when he was feeling grumpy doing paperwork, and decided to grab a spare bit of artificial grass he had lying around.
He said: “We sell all manner of landscape supplies to trade and retail so it’s not unusual for us to have a bit of grass lying about. I was feeling stressed out so I took off my shoes and socks and put my feet on the cutting and got on with my work. To this day, I’m not really sure why I did it but the next time it came to doing the books I decided to do the same again. I found it really relaxing having the grass between my toes and it helped improve my concentration.”
He added: “It isn’t just aimed at office workers. It’d be great for other people stuck indoors, including the elderly. It’s a real boost in the winter when you can shut your eyes and imagine it’s summertime.”
