TOMORROW is the last day to enter the biggest and best business awards in the North East. Companies which want to show they are the truly the best in business must log on to www.nebusinessawards.co.uk today or tomorrow and tell us why their achievements make them winners.
Hundreds of companies came forward to show their strength, ambition and innovation as they entered the nebusiness awards last year, despite the toughest economic conditions for half a century.
This year we have decided to extend the final closing date for entries until tomorrow to ensure everyone gets the chance to enter who wants to.
And, although every company in the UK still faces big economic challenges, we hope that this year even more businesses will want to show they have what it takes to make the North East a strong and growing economy in the future.
The awards, organised by The Journal and the Evening Gazette in association with the North East Chamber of Commerce, will give firms of every size and type the chance to show what makes them special in any of 10 categories.
Brian Aitken, Journal editor, said: “Celebrating success seems curiously at odds with the doom and gloom pervading the financial news.
“But we know that behind these headlines, and across our region, there are businesses of all sizes, in all sectors, competing, innovating, winning and growing.
“These awards continue to provide a platform for North East businesses to showcase their strengths and achievements.
“The nebusiness awards for 2013 will more than ever prove that there are hundreds of businesses across the region doing great things, achieving impressive results and demonstrating world-class qualities.”
North East Chamber of Commerce chief executive James Ramsbotham added: “We have an enormously successful business community that has achieved so much this year.
“The North East Business Awards provide the perfect stage on which to recognise the ground-breaking work being pioneered by companies across the region.
“It was a point of immense pride that all of this year’s winners came from within the NECC membership network and even more pleasing that one of the winners, Sarah Pittendrigh of Simply Bows and Chair Covers, was the winner of the national award at the 2013 Chamber Awards. I’m sure the awards in 2013 will prove to be just as successful and that we can once again showcase the outstanding achievements of the North East’s business community.”
