MOTOR dealership Vertu today announced its second acquisition of 2013.

The Gateshead-based business is paying £1.1m for the business and certain assets of the Walter C Brigg Vauxhall outlet in Keighley, West Yorkshire.

Vertu, which mainly trades as Bristol Street Motors and Macklin Motors, also acquired a 15-year lease on the dealership property.

Robert Forrester, CEO of Vertu Motors, said: "2013 has started with two acquisitions for the group following on from a very strong period of growth in 2012.

“The acquired Keighley business increases the number of outlets in Yorkshire to six as we seek to grow scale in the region.  Our newly acquired businesses will be integrated into the Vertu business to drive increased profitability and to generate shareholder value."

Last week, Vertu forked out £4.3m to buy Dobies (Carlisle) Limited, which includes a Vauxhall outlet and a SEAT business in Carlisle.

Today’s addition brings the group’s number of dealerships and after sales outlets to 93.
