Second blow for Pilkington
A TEESSIDE-BASED company has lost two major customers following the collapse of a second North-east windows firm.
Pilkington Glass, which has depots in Middlesbrough and Gateshead, said Pennine Windows (Home Improvements) Ltd going into administration with 126 job losses would present its business with a “challenge,” coming only two weeks after Budget Windows owner Makwela Ltd, which employed 80 people on Teesside collapsed.
One driver in Middlesbrough has been made redundant, but a spokeswoman for Pilkington said the company had not made “any significant changes to its business in Gateshead and Middlesbrough.”
David Rycroft Pilkington’s head of corporate affairs, said: “It is obviously an issue and a challenge for us and all we can do is go and look for other business in the region.”
