A STOCKTON WOMAN who fulfilled a lifetime’s aim by starting her own business, is about to embark on an expansion programme that will give confidence for others to realise their dreams.
Chris York, who launched Ambition Academy in March 2007, has invested in a partner licence with global people development company Lifestyle Architecture to provide leadership, coaching and training to local businesses, individuals and young people.
As a result, it plans to create a new position at the company’s Stockton offices and move to bigger premises.
Ms York, who was just 14 years old when she hit on the concept for Ambition Academy, said: “From a very early age I demonstrated leadership qualities although my brothers would describe it as being bossy!
“When I grew up I wanted to work with people, not things or machines, in a role that helped people be the best they can be. I also knew then that I wanted to follow in my father’s footsteps and run my own business.”
But, after a number of career turns, she ended up working for At Work Recruitment, the flagship organisation bringing high street recruitment solutions to communities in Tees Valley, where she progressed to regional manager.
“Being able to see the difference that you can make when you empower someone to take control of their development and see them achieve is the best job satisfaction you can get,” she said.
The Ambition Academy, which is based on a number of independent executive and development coaches working together as a cooperative, was backed by Business Link.
