Onyx Group looking to expand

MIDDLESBROUGH IT firm Onyx Group has revealed plans to grow into a £50m “national” business by 2012 - but says its expansion will be driven from Teesside.

The company, which already has sites in Newcastle, Glasgow and Edinburgh as well as Teesside, is keen to establish a presence in other parts of the UK - with London a key target.

The technology solutions provider has invested £5m in a state-of-the-art data centre in Edinburgh just half a mile from its workplace recovery centre in South Gyle, which opened in April this year.

CEO Neil Stephenson said: “It’s our intention to have a national business, not a local one - but it makes sense to keep a Teesside base to capitalise on the talent up here.”

In the past two years Onyx has quadrupled turnover to £12m and is on course to generate sales of £23m this year.
