WORKERS affected by the mothballing of Teesside Cast Products can discuss their career options at an event organised by Redcar and Cleveland College later today.
The college has organised an “open door” drop-in session for all Corus workers from 4-6pm which will highlight retraining and educational opportunities.
Gary Groom, principal and chief executive of Redcar and Cleveland College, said: “As a large employer based in Redcar we know only too well the impact the closure of the Corus steel plant has had on the town and the surrounding area.
“By holding the drop-in session at the college we are hoping to demonstrate how we can help them make the most of the skills they already have, but also to develop new ones to expand and enhance their career choices and employment opportunities.”
Mothballing of TCP’s giant blast furnace took place last month, triggering 1,600 redundancies.
Any Corus employee made redundant recently can attend the drop-in session at the college on Corporation Road. Details on 01642 473132 or visit www.cleveland.ac.uk
