Teesside manufacturers are confident for 2012

MANUFACTURERS on Teesside are confident they will end 2012 on a high - but claim the outlook will get worse before it gets better.

Manufacturers’ organisation EEF has published its North East Executive Survey 2012, which shows that despite a gloomy global outlook, some companies expect to see growth in sales to both UK and overseas customers.

EEF’s central forecast is for growth of 1% across the economy as a whole and 0.9% in manufacturing during 2012.

Around 60% of companies in the region have adjusted their business plans in light of growing global economic uncertainty.

But the report claims that there is some confidence that sales figures will be higher by the end of 2012.
