COMPANIES in Ashington have had their first chance to tour the town's new £3m business park.
As well as local businesses, members of the Go Wansbeck board were also given the opportunity to look round the showpiece development.
Merchant Court, at North Seaton Industrial Estate, was developed by Spencer Holdings with support from Go Wansbeck.
There are 16 industrial units and office space with a total site area of more than 72,000sq ft.
Keith Raine, Go Wansbeck’s programme manager, said: “The completion of Merchant Court demonstrates what we are all trying to achieve in Wansbeck.
“This is the ideal location for businesses of different sizes operating in different sectors.”
There is considerable interest already from a number of local businesses which want to move into bigger premises or start up.
Mr Raine added: “Despite the recession, we are receiving more inquires than ever from people wanting to set up their own businesses – although interest is also likely from further afield.”
With Merchant Court now open for business, Go Wansbeck board members, agents and local businesses have been shown round.
Chairman of Spencer Holdings, Jim Spencer said: “The completed development offers a range of unit sizes built and finished to a high specification with excellent accessibility.
“The site is suitable for a range of occupiers.
“We are taking a flexible approach and would encourage any interested parties to make contact on 0845 365 5555 to discuss the options we have available.”
