MORE than 100 jobs will be created by a Gateshead event company taking charge at the Tall Ships’ Race in Hartlepool and the Great North Run.
Gateshead-based Touchline Event Management (TEM), part of the IPC Security group, is recruiting 115 staff for the Tall Ships’ Races in Hartlepool on August 7 to 10 and the Bupa Great North Run from Newcastle to South Shields on September 19.
TEM are recruiting up to 80 safety stewards and 35 security stewards for these and other events across the North of England from Yorkshire to Tyneside.
More than 250 TEM stewards will be working at the Tall Ships Village and the associated Park and Ride/Walk sites.
TEM provides crowd management and stewarding at major events including football, rugby, athletics, pop and rock concerts, horse racing and golf. John McLean, general manager, TEM said: “It’s great news we are recruiting.
“It reflects the success we are enjoying in attracting and servicing very prestigious and high-profile clients and major events.
“I hope it also reflects that the North East economy is picking up and people are going to go out to these big events as we are expecting them to be very well attended. ”
TEM also supplies event managers, supervisors, general safety stewards, car park attendants, turnstile operators and Security Industry Authority (SIA) Door Registered security stewards.
