Brulines gets the nod for name change

STOCKTON data capture company Brulines has been given the green light to change its name.

The business, which measures information for customers across the pub, leisure and petrol forecourt sectors, received approval from shareholders at yesterday’s annual general meeting in Leeds.

The AIM-listed company, which employs around 240 people, announced in June that it wants to become known as Vianet because the name Brulines is so associated with the beer dispensing part of the business.

Chief executive James Dickson said: “We had the vast majority of votes in favour. We are going through the process and there’s no defined timescale.

“Brulines was the core business that was all about beer, we are much more than that now. We need a name to reflect the wider business. A lot of what we do uses the internet and the name Vianet is an accurate reflection of that.”

The company, which last year made three acquisitions to strengthen its fuel forecourt measuring wing, already owns the Vianet brand.

The group’s turnover jumped by 22.4% to £24.28m for the year to the end of March and the group said the first quarter’s trading was in line with expectations, with strong interest from forecourt operators.

Chairman James Newman said: “Whilst the economic backdrop remains challenging, the progress that the group has made on key products provides encouraging divisional growth prospects and the board is confident this will drive a return to growth this year.”
