Power cut shuts down internet bank website

Customers with internet bank cahoot have been unable to access their accounts for the past 24 hours due to a power cut in Spain.

The website for the group, which is part of Spanish banking giant Santander, went down at 8am yesterday and it was still unavailable at lunchtime today.

The problem meant customers had no way of accessing their accounts as the group’s call centre was also not operating during the power outage. Regular direct debits and standing orders also went unpaid.

A cahoot spokeswoman said they hoped to have the site back up shortly, adding that payments that should have gone through yesterday were being processed today.

Customers will be sent an email telling them how they can reclaim any money they have lost or penalties they have incurred as a result of the problems.

Matthew Timms, managing director, of cahoot said: ``We apologise that cahoot.com was unavailable yesterday and today. The site will shortly be up and running and you will be able to see any transactions you made up until 7.30am yesterday.
