THE Real Help for Business Now campaign is taking to the road to bring information and advice to young people throughout the North East.
Throughout the summer, Real Help’ roadshows will travel the length and breadth of the region delivering free advice on training to 16-19 year olds who are about to make crucial choices affecting their future career and job prospects .
Visitors to the roadshows will be able to talk to expert advisors from organisations such as Connexions, accessing a wide variety of information and real help to assess their skills and find out what options are available for training, education and jobs.
Ian Williams, One North East director of business and industry, said: "It’s more important than ever that North East youngsters get the help they need to access the wide range of practical support and training available.
"That’s why One North East, the Learning and Skills Council North East, Jobcentre Plus, local authorities and Government Office for the North East are working closely to ensure young people get the support and advice they need to make the right choices that will help shape their futures."
The Real Help for Business and People Now campaign aims to direct companies to support and advice, helping people get back into work and update their skills.
The scheme, backed by The Journal, has highlighted businesses and people who have successfully accessed public sector support.
Roadshows will be at Bishop Auckland Market Place on July 31, Stockton High Street on August 7, Durham Market Place on August 14, Newcastle, at Grey’s Monument, on August 20, Sunderland, outside The Bridges, on August 28, King Street, South Shields, on September 4 and Blyth Marketplace on September 11.
