Expansion needs put ZebraHosts in demand

A data centre has seen its sales grow by around a fifth as the demand for fast efficient technology increases among North-East companies.

ZebraHosts, which is on Westgate Road, Newcastle, in the centre of what has been dubbed the city's "Silicon Alley", provides server hosting.

It has reported an increase in revenues of around 20% a year in recent years due to increasing demand for its services.

Growth is in response to the expanding IT needs of North-East companies, which according to ZebraHosts, are outgrowing their current web facilities.

ZebraHosts strategic account manager Belinda Kent said: "North-East companies are becoming far more sophisticated in their web needs.

"As reliance on server-based systems increases, many are no longer prepared to battle with slow connectivity, poor levels of up-time, unreliable data storage and weak networking.

"And of course, as their usage increases they become even more aware of the catastrophic repercussions of losing core data."

As a result ZebraHosts has noticed a steady growth in enquiries for its external hosting facilities which guarantees 99.99% connectivity even in the event of a major local or regional power cut.

"Our clients value the importance of robust storage technology, and the need for every element of data management to be in line and working reliably," Ms Kent said.

As well as this, several clients use the fact that they externally host their data with ZebraHosts as a major selling point when marketing their business.

ZebraHosts, which offers services such as server hosting, network planning and design, data management and storage, co-location and security consultancy, has been in business for five years and boasts a client list including NECC, The Ambulance Service, Imass and Enigma Interactive.

Staff from the company will be demonstrating its data centre services and providing advice and guidance to visitors, at the forthcoming IT Works event, taking place on July 5-6 at Sunderland University.
