TELECOMS firm Executel has launched a new mobile communications division which it says will bring the promise of new jobs to the region.
The Gateshead-based company is recruiting for a sales team as it looks to tap into the increasingly-lucrative opportunities of the mobile technology sector. The £9m-a-year firm, which employs 42 people, started life in 1997 purely as a telecoms firm but has since diversified into several new markets as internet-based technology in the sector continues to develop rapidly.
Director Peter Watson said: “The evolution of Executel as a service provider has been – and continues to be – both structured and carefully planned.
“We have cast our net ever wider to incorporate data solutions and more recently unified communications, a major part of which is mobility. We’ve worked hard to get where we are today but we never stand still.”
As well as mobile technology, Executel is also focusing on tackling so-called ‘dial-through fraud’ in which hackers steal thousands of pounds from businesses by tapping into their phone network.
