Digital masterclasses

SOME of the world’s leading experts on digital innovation, marketing and business will visit the region next month to run university-style training sessions for budding entrepreneurs.

Thinking Digital University will see senior representatives from major firms, including Virgin, Red Bull, Google and the BBC, focus on social media, DIY gadgetry and practical wisdom for small businesses.

A social media masterclass will be hosted by social media expert Stowe Boyd with guests JP Rangaswami of BT, Paul Smith, also known as the North East’s very own ‘Twitchhiker’ and Alex Hunter of Virgin.

The BBC’s Ian Forrester will join a number of guests, including Alexandra Deschamps-Sonsino of TinkerIt, designer Andy Huntington of Friispray and Adrian McEwan of Bubblino, who will run a session on ‘gadget DIY’.

Meanwhile, FT columnist and author of The Beermat Entrepreneur, Mike Southon, will join senior representatives from some of the most forward-thinking firms in the country to look at how businesses can survive the current difficult environment.

The one-day event takes place the day before the Thinking Digital conference, which will bring leading lights from the global digital industry to The Sage Gateshead next month.

Thinking Digital University takes place on May 13 from 2.30pm.
