Trade trip wins North firm £750,000 software contract

A TRADE trip to the Continent has helped a North East technology firm to a £750,000 contract with global industrial group Cepsa.

Stockton-based Unasys won its second contract with the international oil and petrochemicals specialist after a trade visit to Spain, organised by NOF Energy.

Cepsa has signed a deal to use Unasys’s WINePM software which will help it manage the construction of a major extension to its Huelva Refinery in South West Spain.

The contract, which follows on from an earlier deal for work on Cepsa’s San Roque refinery, will see four Unasys staff sent to Spain to provide on-site training and tech support.

Unasys is recruiting two Spanish operatives on a full-time basis.

The groundwork for the deals was struck during the trade visit to Spain organised by NOF Energy, the business development organisation for the oil, gas and energy sectors.

Working in association with the British Embassy in Madrid, it structured the five-day visit to a number of significant locations in the Spanish energy market.
