Expanding SITS Group moves to new offices

A FLEDGLING technology firm which beat its annual sales target in just five months has moved into bigger premises as it gears up for expansion across the Pennines.

Newcastle's SITS Group is looking to roll out its business model into the North West and Yorkshire and has expanded into a larger office in its home on the Quorum business park to accommodate more staff. The firm has moved from an office for four people into one for eight.

The company specialises in virtualisation technology which allows several virtual servers to be housed on one computer.

It means that the resources of a server can be shared across multiple environments, constantly adjusting the load between them to make the most efficient use of resources.

Commercial director Phil Cambers said: “We had set ourselves some realistic targets for the first 12 months, so to achieve those targets in the first half of the year and then go on to double our forecasted sales reinforced our view that there was a gap in the market for a true visualisation specialist in the North East.

“A growing number of organisations are realising the benefits of consolidating their server estates. It makes much better use of IT resources, reduces the burden of cost and admin involved in managing a large number of computers – many of which are under-utilised – eliminates many of the potential points of failure and reduces the amount of energy required to power the IT infrastructure.”

According to industry research, 95% of servers in the world are under-utilised – a fact which is forecasted to help the virtualisation market grow by 300% over the coming year.

Mr Cambers said: “While other more generalised IT solutions providers are jumping on the bandwagon we are the North East’s only specialist in this technology and we intend to capture a big slice of the market.”
