Cloud computing – how it can work for you

BUSINESSES in the region will have the chance to learn how they can benefit from cloud computing at a series of events later this month.

Cloud computing can help firms save money and become more efficient by giving them instant remote access to vast banks of IT infrastructure as and when they need it.

Newcastle-based Arjuna Technologies, which specialises in the field, aims to help other North East businesses reap the rewards of the emerging IT solution.

With cloud computing, hosted services are delivered over the internet and, unlike traditional hosting, the service is often sold on demand in a rental or pay-as-you go format.

Many analysts believe the technology represents a major transformation in the way computing is done in corporations and will bring about dramatic changes in the IT world.

Arjuna is offering assistance to regional companies interested in exploiting cloud technology through a range of seminars and workshops.

Specific workshops on the public and financial sectors will take place this month on the 12 (public sector) and 22 (financial institutions) respectively, and a ‘Cloudseminar’ on January 28 will give businesses a broad overview of the topic.
