Newcastle firm uses video bulletins to replace newsletters

A FINANCIAL services firm has adopted a modern alternative to brochures and newsletters to keep its clients up to date with the latest developments at the business.

Lycetts Financial Services, based in Newcastle, has started to send "DigiBullets" – short video clips viewed online – to clients on a range of topics such as inheritance tax, personal accounts, pensions and personal insurance. DigiBullets have been developed by North East communications group MDA.

Lycetts Financial Services’ managing director Nick Straker said: "Financial services are a highly complex subject. Traditionally it’s involved a huge amount of paperwork that people don’t necessarily want to wade through.

"We find DigiBullets are a way of communicating clearly, effectively and efficiently with our target audience and they also give clients the opportunity to respond straight away."

MDA director, Alex Latimer, said: "DigiBullets are a way of translating sometimes complex information into bite-size pieces. They also have view appeal. The Lycetts DigiBullets were filmed on Newcastle Quayside and produced by an ex-BBC editor on the MDA team and are very watchable."

Newcastle-based MDA is working on further DigiBullets with a number of its clients, which include Tesco, Land Securities and Go Wansbeck.

Mr Latimer added: "For internal communications in large companies, instead of holding expensive meetings in head office, staff can have DigiBullet updates e-mailed to them to their desktop."
