IT firm Sumlock looks to the next generation

Darren Towart of Sumlock

THE North East's longest standing IT company celebrated its official relocation with a special event highlighting the next generation of computers.

Sumlock, which has been in operation in Tyneside since 1976, has now opened at Planet House at Killingworth to accommodate the growing company’s future developments.

To celebrate the new premises the company held two special events where companies, schools and local authorities were able to see the latest technical advances, which included a “green” computer that use less power but still offers high performance, and advanced servers powered by NEC computers.

The company has always been at the forefront of computer technology having been the first to supply digital calculators and word processing units. And now they are set to highlight the first eco-friendly computer systems, which use less power but still offer high performance.

“Visitors were able to see the next generation of computers and advanced servers powered by NEC computers,” said Darren Towart, Sumlock’s account manager.

“They use less power but are extremely fast so there’s no compromise on the service but they are obviously a lot more eco friendly.

“The solutions that we had on show were of interest to everyone from small businesses to local authorities to large companies and also to schools.”
