Advantex has solution for Rockcliffe Hall Hotel

ADVANTEX Network Solutions has completed a £500,000 contract to install a state-of-the art digital network infrastructure at the upmarket Rockcliffe Hall hotel, spa and golf and leisure complex.

The contract involved the Houghton-le-Spring-based IT infrastructure specialists undertaking the digital cabling installation work at the lavish development, which is set in 375 acres of landscaped grounds near Darlington.

Advantex undertook the work for Shepherd Engineering Services, the main mechanical and electrical contractors for the £65m development. Now employing nearly 30 people, the company saw sales top £2m last year.

Stephen O’Connell, who founded the firm five years ago with his brother David, said: “This is a highly prestigious contract for us and puts us at the forefront of highly advanced and complex infrastructure installation companies in the North East.”

“We are now the paramount provider of advanced IP-based CCTV and wireless integrated turnkey solutions in the region.”

Engineers installed an advanced IT cable network throughout the hotel complex to carry digital cabling and an internet operated CCTV system. This will provide state-of-the-art TV and IP (Internet Protocol) telecommunications services, including wi-fi for PC access, for guests and staff throughout the hotel including 61 bedrooms and banqueting and conference facilities.

A new security door access system has also been installed which can be managed via the new network by staff at main reception to control who enters and leaves the site.

Fibre optic cabling was specified by Advantex to ensure the network’s high operating speed and capacity and provide a platform for future system upgrades.

The contract is one of the most prestigious ever undertaken by IT infrastructure specialist Advantex and was completed over a two-year roll- out. It is also the latest IP camera installation contract for the company, confirming it at the forefront of the technology’s application in the North East and, increasingly, nationally.

Nick Holmes, managing director at Rockcliffe Hall, said the project required an easy-to-use, advanced solution which would provide long-term benefits.

Other installations have been completed at Egger UK Ltd, Gateshead College, City of Sunderland College, Oxclose School, Dyke House School and Boulby deep mine.
