TECHNOLOGY consultancy Aegis IT has become the first company in the North of England to gain the virtual desktop accreditation from VMware.
The Newcastle company is pleased with the association with VMware, which is the world-leading supplier of virtualised software which allows businesses to rationalise the use of their existing investment in hardware and reduce the total costs of operations. In recent years this software has allowed companies to improve business continuity and allow flexible and agile operations through the ability to virtualise desktops.
Aegis technical director David McPherson said: “We are delighted to be recognised as the North’s leading supplier of virtual desktop solutions by gaining this accreditation.
“It reinforces us as leaders in the supply of virtualised solutions within the region and allows us to continue our investment and growth both in the North of England and also with our client base in the United Kingdom and Europe.”
The six-year-old firm already has a long list of local customers including Sage, G4S, Newcastle College Group and Muckle LLP.
And it has implemented one of the largest virtual desktop solutions in Europe at Newcastle College group for their remote training companies; it saved millions of pounds in operational and capital expenditure. “The accreditation recognises our investment in training of our consultants and allows us to ensure that our implementation of virtualised desktop solutions are delivered to the software company’s latest blueprints.
“We now have an extensive list of clients who have gained considerable benefits from virtualised environments,” added Mr McPherson. “Virtual desktop is a natural extension of the virtualised solution and allows a business to access their desktop with all the business applications – securely, remotely and fast.” This now includes being able to access their desktop from modern mobile devices like Blackberry and PDA handsets.
