Onyx Group opens new facility in Glasgow

ONYX Group has added to its roster of workplace recovery and data centres with a new facility in Glasgow.

The site is near Glasgow airport and will complement existing sites in the north of the city and in Edinburgh. It has 60 seats to which staff can be moved if businesses cannot operate from their usual base.

The firm boasts a 260-seat facility in Newcastle, and recently added a 100-seat centre at its Stockton headquarters. It also has workplace recovery and data centres in locations such as London. It was named North East Company of the Year 2009 at the nebusiness awards earlier this year.

A third of the group’s customers are Scottish clients, and nearly half of its total workforce are employed north of the border, a figure which will increase following the new opening.

Onyx Scotland’s managing director Hugh Gillen said: “This latest expansion is another step in the right direction for Onyx as we aim to create a UK-wide footprint, providing key technology services to national and regional businesses.

“We work with a range of Scottish companies, helping them to put in place robust continuity strategies that will ensure the business can and will operate as normal if disaster strikes.

“The new opening is a result of demand, particularly from businesses that are starting to seriously look at business continuity and ensure they have in place appropriate contingencies, at a time where industry is becoming ever more regulated and monitored.”
