Screenreach set to launch at international show

NORTH East digital interaction business Screenreach is to follow in the footsteps of major products and services such as Adobe Acrobat, Java and Palm Computing by launching at a major international show in Palm Springs.

The Newcastle start-up – which has developed a system whereby smartphone users can interact with TVs and digital signage to play quizzes, receive rewards and take part in competitions – is set to showcase its product at the DEMO event at the start of next week.

It will also be revealing the global partners who will be taking advantage of the product’s potential, which include some major companies from the UK and the USA.

Screenreach will have six minutes to launch its product at the show, which has also been used as a launch venue by the likes of IBM, Intel, Nokia, Microsoft and Yahoo and has enabled more than 40 demonstrating companies to be acquired in the last four years alone.

Co-founder Paul Rawlings said: “It’s quite an honour to be able to go and launch there. At the event, we’ll be announcing some really cool partners.

“We already have US partners and we’re pushing into Africa and just starting to look at China. At DEMO, we’ll be announcing the names of our partners to a wider audience.”

The firm will then go on to San Francisco as one of 18 fast-growing technology companies being showcased in the UKTI’s Web Mission 2011. This will allow it to engage with top US tech businesses such as Twitter, and raise its international profile.

Screenreach emerged from the Difference Engine seed funding programme last year, and has already raised £770,000 in total. It recently raised £500,000 from a second round of funding, and added Hotspur Capital Partners founder Colin Willis as a non-executive to a growing heavyweight board that already includes figures such as 21st Century Media founder Sam Morton, former Sage director Tom Maxfield and Mentorn founder Tom Gutteridge.

The team is now at around 10 staff and is moving into a larger premises in Hoults Yard this week while aiming to expand its operations worldwide.
