ONLINE medical device review site Which Medical Device has revealed it will be working with California publisher Sage to boost its status worldwide.
The Newcastle firm has entered into a partnership with the professional publisher, which will see Sage handle the commercial aspects of the site and promote it to a wider audience.
Dr Phil Haslam and Craig Gerrand, both consultants at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, set up the site last year to allow medical professionals to compare and review medical devices, as well as to offer videos of devices in use.
It now boasts around 7,000 unique visits a month and has a roster of 2,500 members in Europe, the US and the Far East.
Which Medical’s popularity has been built on the idea that professionals can receive expert independent advice from their peers, and that’s an element of the site that business development director Steve Walmsley is keen to protect. He said: “The clinicians we have on the site want to be absolutely sure we have integrity in the way we deal with editorial.
“We’re setting up a sort of Chinese wall where commercial aspects don’t mix with the editorial, so the clinicians know we’re completely unbiased.”
