SOCIAL media site Croon was launched last week with the aim of becoming a potential "hub for local music scenes".
So what do its founders think the music scene needs, and how are they going about getting it out there?
So far, it’s only operating in the West Yorkshire area, with 340 artists, 50 promoters and around 100 venues signed up at the moment.
But the founders say they’re hoping to expand it into the North East in January, so it’s worth finding out a little more about how it works.
Seaham-raised Vicky Wilson set up the social media site with Matt Sweeney after the pair grew tired of scrabbling around looking for information about local gigs.
She said: “We came at this from the perspectives of a music lover and an artist. I found it very difficult to find out what was going on around the area. Matt was in an indie band, and bands want to find ways to develop a local following.
“The big thing is getting people to gigs. There’s something really special about going to a performance. It’s far more intimate than a big arena, and it’s the way artists develop a fan base.”
