GAMES studio Ubisoft Reflections has confirmed that studio head Gareth Edmondson has left after more than a decade.

While the long-time managing director has not yet announced his next move, the Newcastle company confirmed he had “made the choice to leave the studio”, not long after its latest game Driver: San Francisco was unveiled worldwide.

Parent company Ubisoft – who picked up the studio from Atari in 2006 – said former general manager Giselle Stewart would be heading up operations along with production director Darren Yeomans for now.

A spokesperson for Ubisoft said: “In the five years since Reflections has become a part of the Ubisoft team of studios, we have had the pleasure of working and creating together with Gareth Edmondson as head of Reflections.

“Gareth has made the choice to leave the studio at this time. Our team of talented developers at Reflections will continue their work on upcoming projects under the supervision of Giselle Stewart, studio manager, and Darren Yeomans, production director, until a permanent replacement has been named.”

Reflections Interactive was founded by Gareth’s brother Martin in 1984 as a developer of BBC Micro games.

The company released games such as Destruction Derby and Shadow of the Beast.
