Turboactive plug into Wynyard’s X factors

AN engineering business has invested £640,000 in larger premises to accommodate its ongoing expansion.

Turboactive, an independent turbocharger company specialising in the supply of new and reconditioned turbochargers for automotive, commercial, plant and agricultural equipment, has recently moved into a new 10,200 sq ft warehouse.

It is located on the prestigious 700-acre Wynyard Park business development on the A19 between Stockton and Hartlepool.

Over the past 10 years the firm, formerly based at the Hartlepool Workshops on the Usworth Road Industrial Estate, has seen constant growth and development as a result of continued investment in technology, machinery and turbocharger stock.

This, along with an increasing demand for more environmentally friendly engines, has seen Turboactive look for larger premises.

Mark Watson, managing director of Turboactive said the move was intended to facilitate the company’s expected growth over coming months and to enable the business to run more efficiently. He said: “We have had the building specifically designed to accommodate our machinery, workforce and specific requirements which is great advantage in meeting increasing demand.

“We’ve already created five new roles in line with the move, taking our workforce up to 20 and there is the potential to take on more new staff in the foreseeable future.

“Our company profile has been raised as a result of being based at Wynyard Park. The enhanced security, site prestige, beautiful surroundings, great on-site amenities and the forward thinking attitude has greatly increased morale amongst the workforce.”

Paul Barber, managing director of Wynyard Park Ltd’s development arm Strategic Sites Ltd, said: “We believe this is the best business location in the Tees Valley and to have Turboactive here is great news. Already we have created more jobs at Wynyard than were lost when Samsung closed in 2004.”
